Bii will achieve its objectives through:

• The integration of academic researchers and industrial developers in single development teams to enable R&D to be undertaken which will solve problems and meet market demands;
• Concentrating on niche areas of activity that relate to the imminent and future challenges facing the bioinformatics industry, most notably creating the software tools necessary to meet these challenges;
• Adopting an interdisciplinary approach to problem solving and meeting market demands by bringing together biologists and geneticists with IT specialists and engineers, along with other groups concerned with software tools.
